The quality of mercy

“For those about to take my life, may God have mercy on your souls.  May God bless your souls.” — Troy Davis, September 21, 2011 (quote from BBC News)

    1. That’s understandable. People smile at the oddest times. They may have felt it was the ending of a long period of torment for themselves.

Mark MacPhail was a good man. Obviously somebody killed him, but I don’t think it was Troy Davis. I don’t think Troy Davis ever killed anyone. Whatever else this case is about, it’s also about two men who were in the wrong place at the wrong time. A common enough human tragedy.

May God have mercy on our souls.
