Then as ever

“An instant realization sees endless time.
Endless time is as one moment.
When one comprehends the endless moment
He realizes the person who is seeing it.”

  1. This is beautiful.

My son and I were talking about infinity and the possibility of life after death yesterday—not so poetically, of course. It’s interesting how young we are when we start to grasp for a hold on the infinite and get the first glimmer of our miniscule place in the cosmos. Part of me hates to have those discussions, to break into the kid’s all-encompassing world of the self.

  2. hi. i’ve been away. i went a finite distance over a finite period of time.

    except…

infinity lurks all about us. it’s in the crack that opens in everything. how we perceive space and time with our senses is restricted by the limitations of our senses. our minds show us broader ways of knowing space and time, but even these broader ways are limited by the limits of our minds. in both cases (senses and mind) we are limited by biological barriers.

we are here and now and we are everywhere forever. as for life after death, life and death are qualities inherent in the realm of our biological being. when we’re alive we’re alive, and when we’re dead we’re dead.

  3. I missed you. I thought you might be making that big move to the big city and are living as I am at the moment, with a kitchen full of boxes.

  4. the big move is two months away. susan and i moved into the place we are now in a year ago and never fully unpacked since we planned on moving on. my study (she gets to use it, too, it’s where the computer is) is full of the boxes containing the bulk of my library and archives.
